Think When Tempted
The next time you are tempted to transgress God’s law, here are ten
things to “think on” and consider:
[1]
While the devil is behind every
temptation, yet if you sin it will be because of
your own choosing (James 1:13-15). No one is
forcing you to do this.
[2]
You will be breaking
God’s heart and at the same time making Satan
happy.
[3]
You will be serving
Satan, and not God. “No one can serve two masters”
(Matthew 6:24).
[4]
Whatever sin it might be, it will
separate you from God
(Isaiah 59:1-2).
[5]
Your sin may directly or indirectly
cause others to likewise
stumble, an influence for which you do not want to be
responsible (Matthew 13:41-42; 18:6-7).
[6]
You may have the inclination and the time to repent later. But, then
again, you may not (James
4:13-17).
[7]
You stand the chance of ‘paying for it’
in this life, and most certainly in the life to come (if not repented
of) (1 Timothy 5:24).
[8]
It was that your past sins might be forgiven that Jesus died on the
cross -- and now, will you “trample the
Son of God
underfoot” and treat His shed blood as “a common
thing,” by going back into sin?! (Hebrews 10:26-29).
[9]
You can resist the temptation
to sin, no matter what! (1 Corinthians 10:13). Seek the
“way of escape” which God has promised.
[10]
Pray to God
when tempted. He will “deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew
6:13).
