"Those
Who Are With Us
Are More Than Those Who Are With Them"
Do you ever wonder how you are going to make it through this life?
In the days of Elisha, a “great army” from Syria came to
arrest the prophet for ‘divulging military secrets.’ When this great
force surrounded the city with horses and chariots, Elisha’s servant
said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” Things looked
bleak, indeed.
With all confidence, Elisha answered, “Do not fear, for those
who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then, Elisha
prayed: “Lord... open his eyes that he may see.” What happened
next proved amazing. “Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man,
and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of
fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:15-17).
Perhaps the LORD will not peel back the heavens today and show us
the principalities and powers and heavenly host that are working for
Him, but they are there nonetheless (Ephesians 3:10). Would to God that
we would all open our eyes and see that “those who are with us are
more than those who are with” the world and Satan, our enemies.
Maybe you are struggling with some spiritual weakness and wonder, “How
will I ever make it to heaven? It seems the forces of Satan are just so
powerful.“ Perhaps financial debts or health problems (or both) have
caused you to doubt that God is truly concerned for you. Maybe you are
even questioning whether God truly is actively working for His people as
they struggle against the world.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? My brothers and sisters, let us look with
the eye of faith beyond this veil of flesh to Him who has all power and
authority. Let us never doubt the awesome strength of His might, nor His
watchful concern for our state.
“And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire...”
